About Me

My photo
My name is Anna, and I work as a primary school teacher in greater London. I love eating pizza and watching TV with my husband. I also love painting glass, and any other crafty pursuits that give me a chance to make a mess! I am on a bit of a mission to learn how to cook, bake, sew and generally make things before I have children. I'm trying to learn something new each day. I really value your support, so thank you for following me xx

Love, Love, Love!

A shopping trip to Harrow on Tuesday led to some happy finds:

My mum introduced me to a shop called 'Tiger', which was like a crafty treasure trove. The most excitement came from these little hole punches, which were £1 each!

Then a visit to The Card Factory where they have 7 cards for £1. Far from being the old flowery boring kind, they had a huge selection of inspiring pattens and motifs which made my head spin with ideas.

So much happiness from so little money (sigh).

Finally, I decided to give in and order a black outliner. I ordered one at Christmas and it never arrived. Since then I have quite enjoyed the somewhat messy look of outlining by hand. However, I have to say I am a little bit in love with it now that I have it:

Here's my first little experiment. Do you recognise the owl? :)

Things for the Kitchen

Yesterday I painted a cupcake mixing bowl, and made little characters for salt and pepper pots. I thought I'd have a go at putting these on ebay and see what happens! I was really pleased with how the bowl turned out and may have to do a few more of these.

Phew!

I have been working on this glass for a friend of my mum. I just couldn't get the writing to look neat, and it's been a bit of an obsession for the last couple of days. I put it in the oven today to stop myself fiddling with it any more, so I guess it's finished now. Phew!

The Daisy Bowl

I was feeling the joys of spring yesterday when I found this bowl in the charity shop. I decided it was destined to become a bowl of daisies. Having been painted and baked, it is now sitting on my dining room table willing spring to appear. Daisy Bowl needs to try harder, it's raining!

Parents Evening

Tonight was parents evening (part 1), the most feared night of the year. Last night I decided to make myself a present, while I recovered from my valentines dinner (thank you husband) and watched CSI. The colours remind me of our wedding, which never fails to make me smile. Smiling seems to be the key to surviving parents evening.

From the oven

Just a couple of quick creations which have risen from the ashes:

A first time for earrings

I was very excited today to get some very basic 'earring making stuff' through the post. The beads are apparently glass (though I'm not 100% convinced!) so I've had a play around with my glass paint. Beads were originally white or black. I've tried to make one pair look like cherries, but my husband thinks that they look more like maracas.

I am now off to ebay to investigate what else I can do with my newly acquired beads!

A shiny obsession

My recent obsession with all things glass has produced a variety of colourful additions to my home. Some interesting, some distinctly mundane. But all are loved. My latest creation is my 'strawberries and cream' milk jug:

I am intending to paint a larger jug in the same way. Other recent loves include:
